All professional and supervisory positions within the company utilize an on-the-job training approach to the orientation of new employees. DUDA encourages and supports employees who take evening college courses or other training related to their positions and career interests.

Scope of Operations
DUDA’s family of companies includes Duda Farm Fresh Foods, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DUDA that manages the company’s fresh produce operations; Duda Ranches, a business unit within DUDA that manages the company’s four agriculture operating divisions: sod, cattle, sugarcane and citrus; and The Viera Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DUDA that operates the company’s real estate and community development business. DUDA’s Corporate Services business area provides consolidated support services to all of the company’s business operations.
Career Fields
DUDA offers a variety of career opportunities in the following career fields:
| Farm Management |
| DUDA regularly recruits crop supervisors to assume responsibility for all cultural activities related to the growing of crops assigned to them. Our crop supervisors participate in planning and budgeting as well as supervising the planting, cultivating, spraying, fertilizing and irrigating of their crops. Promotional opportunities involve advancement through crop superintendent to the farm manager level. Most positions require a BS degree in Agronomy, Ag Economics or a related area, or equivalent experience. |
| Harvest Management |
| Harvesting supervisors manage either field harvest operations or packinghouse lines where fruit or vegetables are washed, graded, sized and packed prior to shipment. A college background in business or industrial management is desirable, though the ability to supervise and motivate people is the most important qualification for this work. |
| Produce Sales |
| Because of the perishable nature of our commodities, the majority of our sales are done by telephone with follow-up visits to the customers in the off-season. Most sales trainees have a BS in Marketing, Ag Economics or a related area. The sales division is supported by programs involving national accounts, market research and advertising. |
| Real Estate |
| The company has extensive land holdings including some in the path of development. DUDA’s real estate division is developing these properties and investing in and managing other projects. The goal of this division is to maximize land values and provide diversification for business earnings. This business requires people with skills in land development, finance, real estate marketing and property management. |
| Ag-Related Technical Services |
| The company maintains active research, development and engineering programs in crop research and development, crop protection (integrated pest management), equipment development, and irrigation. An appropriate technical degree is required for employment in all of these areas. |
| Corporate Services |
| DUDA has a substantial accounting organization which has periodic openings for entry level accountants. The company also maintains a large information systems installation and recruits systems analysts, programmers and network specialists on occasion. Openings occur less frequently in smaller staff areas including human resources, purchasing, economics, legal and communication. |
