DUDA’s Owners

Family
Since its beginnings in 1926, A. Duda & Sons has been a family-owned and -operated business. As the DUDA business has grown and evolved so has the Duda family that owns it. Today, the Duda family (including descendents of Andrew Duda and their spouses) consists of over 180 members – spanning the family’s third, fourth, fifth and sixth generations.

Shareholders
During the past 85 years, the generational evolution of the Duda family has seen the ownership of DUDA pass from the patriarch and founder, Andrew Duda, to a partnership between his three sons – John, Andrew, Jr. and Ferdinand – then to a collaboration of cousins in the third generation. By the 1990s, ownership was beginning to pass to members of the fourth generation, and many of them became actively involved in the business. Presently, the third generation has actively passed leadership of the business on to the fourth generation, who in turn are beginning to prepare for the ownership and involvement of the fifth generation.

Family Council
In 2005, as part of this ownership evolution, the Duda family established a Family Council to address governance issues that co-owners of a family-owned business in their third and subsequent generations must begin to deal with. Made up of elected family representatives, the Council is charged with developing processes and structure for the family and owners.
