4 fresh black or purple plums
1 cup orange juice
½ cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter

- Cut plums in half and remove pit. Cut each half into thin wedges. Combine with orange juice and brown sugar in medium sauce pan.
- Bring to boil over MEDIUM heat, lower to simmer and cook for about 8-10 minutes until plums are very soft. Stir carefully.
- Remove from heat, cool to warm, then add vanilla and butter. Stir well and serve warm over waffles, pancakes or ice cream.
